The United States produced 377.633 million metric tonnes of corn in 2024, ahead of China at 294.920 million and Brazil at 114.953 million. The same countries occupied the leading positions in 1993, with smaller totals of 160.986 million, 102.704 million and 30.056 million tonnes respectively. The ranking is more stable than the scale of output.
Corn appears as maize in the FAO source. The figures measure harvested production, including grain used for food, feed or industrial purposes. They are not estimates of human corn consumption. Changes in production can reflect both the amount of land harvested and output per unit of land.
