- Danyang–Kunshan Grand Bridge ranks #1 with 164.8 km, ahead of Changhua–Kaohsiung Viaduct (157.3 km) and Kita–Yaita Viaduct (114.4 km).
About this chart
The Danyang–Kunshan Grand Bridge carries the Beijing–Shanghai high-speed railway for 164.8 km. It opened in 2010 and has been the longest bridge in the world since Guinness World Records designated it in 2011. Second is Taiwan's Changhua–Kaohsiung Viaduct at 157.3 km (2004). Japan's Kita–Yaita Viaduct on the Tohoku Shinkansen, at 114.4 km (1982), is the longest outside China and Taiwan, and the Tianjin Grand Bridge follows at 113.7 km.
Lengths here are total structure length including approach viaducts, and there is no standard way to measure a bridge. Most entries are high-speed rail or expressway viaducts rather than spans over water, and seven of the 15 are in mainland China. A ranking by main span would give a different order. The Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macau Bridge (49.968 km, completed 2018) is the longest sea crossing listed, and the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway (38.4 km) is recorded by Guinness as the longest continuous bridge over water.
