About this chart
Per-person rankings are dominated by small, open economies: financial hubs like Singapore, Luxembourg and Switzerland, and energy exporters like Qatar and Norway. Countries with fewer than 400,000 people are left out so that tiny territories don't crowd the race.
Figures are adjusted for purchasing power parity (PPP), which accounts for prices being higher in some countries than others. Treat Ireland's number with care: profits booked there by multinational companies inflate its GDP well beyond what residents earn.

Frequently asked questions
What is the richest country in the world?
In 2025, Singapore ranks #1 with $163K, followed by Luxembourg ($157K) and Ireland ($155K). Source: World Bank, World Development Indicators (NY.GDP.PCAP.PP.CD), GDP per person, current international $ thousands, PPP; countries over 400,000 people.
What does GDP per capita PPP mean?
It is a country's total economic output divided by its population, converted to 'international dollars' that buy the same basket of goods everywhere. It is the standard way to compare living standards across countries, though it says nothing about how income is shared.
Where does this data come from?

Can I turn this chart into a video?
Yes. Open it in the editor, change the title, theme, colors or format (9:16 for Reels and TikTok, 16:9 for YouTube), and export an MP4. Free exports are 720p with a small watermark; Pro ($11.99/month) removes it and adds 1080p, 4K and 60 fps.
