About this chart
Walmart's retail revenue of $648.1 billion in fiscal 2023 is more than two and a half times that of Amazon, which is second at $251.9 billion in Deloitte's Global Powers of Retailing. Costco is third at $242.3 billion. Deloitte counts retail operations only, so Amazon's figure sits well below its $574.8 billion in total company revenue, which includes other businesses.
Germany's Schwarz Gruppe, the parent of Lidl and Kaufland, ranks fourth at $177.0 billion, ahead of Home Depot ($152.7 billion) and Kroger ($148.9 billion). Seven of the top ten are American; the exceptions are Schwarz Gruppe, Aldi and JD.com. Walgreens Boots Alliance ($121.2 billion) and CVS Health ($116.8 billion) are the largest pharmacy retailers, and Target is 11th at $105.8 billion.
