About this chart
Pakistan's GDP reached a record $407 billion in 2025, ranking 40th in the world. The rank has moved little: 45th in 1980, 41st in 2000. The growth has been large, from $24 billion in 1980 to $99 billion in 2000, $197 billion in 2010 and $407 billion today. Pakistan finishes the race about $20 billion behind both Hong Kong ($427.3 billion) and South Africa ($427.2 billion), which are almost level with each other. It edged past Czechia ($391 billion) in 2024 and has stayed ahead. Hong Kong was behind Pakistan in 2022 before moving back in front. Figures are nominal current US dollars, so exchange-rate swings move the line.
