Madonna is the best-selling woman at a claimed 400 million, and Elton John, Queen and Led Zeppelin are tied at 300 million. The ranking uses the highest claimed figure Wikipedia lists for each artist, covering albums, singles and other formats.

Claims are rounded and unaudited, and certified units tell a different story because they now include streaming equivalents. Rihanna is certified at about 411.2 million units against a claim of 250 million, and Taylor Swift at about 348.4 million against 200 million. Drake is certified at about 556.8 million, more than any artist listed, while the Beatles certify about 295.9 million. Ties are ordered by certified units.
