About this chart

Colombia's economy hit a record $457 billion in 2025 and ranked 35th in the world, up from 37th in 1980 and 39th in 2000. The path was not smooth. After reaching $381 billion in 2014, GDP fell 23 percent in 2015 to $294 billion, and another 16 percent in 2020 took it down to $270 billion. The rebound since then has been fast, lifting the total to its highest level in the data.

Colombia ends the race with its three nearest economies just ahead of Bangladesh ($456 billion) and behind Denmark ($462 billion) and Malaysia ($472 billion). It passed Denmark in 2012 and fell behind in 2015, and it has trailed Malaysia since the same year. Bangladesh was ahead from 2019 until Colombia edged back in front in 2025. Figures are nominal current US dollars, not adjusted for inflation or purchasing power.

Frequently asked questions

What is Colombia's GDP?

Colombia's GDP was about $457 billion in 2025, according to the World Bank, in current US dollars. That ranks 35th in the world and is the highest value in the series.

Why did Colombia's GDP drop in 2015 and 2020?

Measured in dollars, GDP fell 23 percent in 2015, from $381 billion to $294 billion, and 16 percent in 2020, from $323 billion to $270 billion. Because the series converts local output into dollars, a weaker peso lowers it, and 2020 was also the pandemic year.

Which economies are closest to Colombia's in size?

In 2025 the nearest were Malaysia at $472 billion, Denmark at $462 billion and Bangladesh at $456 billion. Colombia sat between Denmark and Bangladesh, about $1 billion ahead of Bangladesh.

Yes. Open it in the editor, change the title, theme, colors or format (9:16 for Reels and TikTok, 16:9 for YouTube), and export an MP4. Free exports are 720p with a small watermark; Pro ($11.99/month) removes it and adds 1080p, 4K and 60 fps.
