1. Copy the chart into PowerPoint
Copy your Excel chart, paste it into PowerPoint, and use the Animations tab to reveal it by series or category (Wipe, then Effect Options). It's the fastest option for a presentation, but bars only appear; they don't change over time.
2. Use a VBA macro to step through time
A short macro can copy one row of data at a time into the range your chart reads from, pausing between steps. The chart redraws at each step, which looks like animation on screen.
It works for live demos in Excel, but motion is jerky (no in-between frames), and you'd need screen recording software to get a video file.
3. Turn your Excel data into a video
This route gives smooth interpolated motion, re-ranking bars and a video file you can share anywhere:
- Select your table in Excel, including the header row, and copy it.
- Paste it into the MakeYourChart editor. Dates down or across both work.
- Choose bar, line, column or donut, then a format and theme.
- Export an MP4. Insert it back into PowerPoint, or post it.
