About this chart

Jacksonville is the only Florida city above one million. It passed that mark in 2024 and reached 1,017,689 in the Census Bureau's July 2025 estimate, up from 823,146 in 2010. Miami, the name most people expect at the top, is second at 489,812, followed by Tampa at 413,554 and Orlando at 333,888. The reason is that these are incorporated city limits, not metro areas, and Jacksonville's limits cover a very large area.

The fastest growth is further down the list. Port St. Lucie rose about 62% from 164,860 in 2010 to 268,062 in 2025 and passed St. Petersburg in the latest estimate. Cape Coral rose about 52% to 236,264 and overtook Hialeah, which grew only about 3%. The series switches from Vintage 2020 to Vintage 2025 estimates at 2020.
