About this chart

Roy Emerson's 12 majors stood as the record for more than three decades until Pete Sampras won his 13th at Wimbledon in 2000. Then came the Big Three: Federer, Nadal and Djokovic each pushed the mark past 20, and Djokovic's 24th at the 2023 US Open set the current record.

Titles count the four majors (Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon, US Open) in both the amateur and Open eras, cumulative at the end of each year.
